Sutter Health SQL Programmer Analyst in Sacramento, California

The SQL Programmer Analyst performs the analysis, definition, design, programming, development, initial testing, and implementation of ETL packages, database, and applications. Additionally, the SQL Programmer Analyst assists in the evaluation, implementation, upgrade, and support of changes to existing ETL packages, databases, applications, and/or SQL-related projects. The SQL Programmer Analyst creates and modifies enterprise reporting processes, develops and maintains the necessary documentation, ensuring that all projects are developed according to established standards, procedures, and specifications. The SQL Programmer Analyst is responsible for performing technical problem determination, resolution and support for interfaces, databases, applications or SQL projects within development, test and production environments. The SQL Programmer Analyst will work with other Sutter affiliates regarding the technical aspects of data extraction, report design and development.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field is preferred or equivalent education/experience.

The equivalent combination of education, training, application/hardware support, hardware/software projects, and clinic/hospital operation experience may be substituted.

Experience

Three to five years (3-5) previous work experience in developing and supporting interfaces, database/information access/database analysis, and/or SQL is desired.

Good enterprise reporting skills in a business environment is required, as is experience in at least one of the following areas:Programming (SQL, VB.NET, C#, ASP, HTML, JavaScript); Databases (MS SQL, MySQL, Clarity, MS Access, Oracle); Reporting applications (SQL Server Reporting Services, Visual Studio, Excel, Tableau, MicroStrategy); Operating systems (Windows 7/8); Healthcare Applications (EPIC) required.

Ambulatory and/or hospital health care application experience preferred.

Must have proven success in communicating with multiple levels of an organization required.

Problem determination and resolution experience. Required

Experience with major health care computer systems (patient accounting, lab, radiology, admitting) is desired preferred.

Knowledge of Healthcare reimbursement terms (e.g. DRG, CPT, ICD-10) preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge and understanding of information technology concepts and technologies is required, as is knowledge of computer systems hardware and software, object-oriented analysis, design, and programming methodologies.

Knowledge of health care operations and structure, department-specific policies and procedures and workflows, general requirements in an integrated delivery system, and use of information systems applications in the practicing health care environment is preferred.

Understanding of data structures and database transaction/analytical/relational database models is preferred.

Knowledge in data warehouse and decision support strategies is preferred.

Knowledge of current technology and how it is best utilized in designing systems and implementing applications is desired.

Knowledge of data processing concepts and technologies in computer information systems, application programming, related programming, data structures, and personal computer systems hardware and software is desired.

Must have problem and issue resolution experience.

Must be able to be involved in multiple projects at the same time.

Should have good organization skills, be able to prioritize multiple activities and objectives in a rapidly changing environment, and deliver quality service.

Must be able to work closely with health care application users, vendors, and technical professionals, building teams when necessary. Must be committed to providing exceptional customer service and responding to user needs in a prompt, courteous manner.

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Should have demonstrated success in the techniques and communication skills needed to successfully support enterprise reporting. Must be able to convey complex technical concepts and user needs to “lay” individuals, as well as communicate technical issues and solutions in business terms.
