Job Description:

The purpose of this role

is to provide leadership and expertise in Marketing Cloud competitive research,

analysis and insight with the goal of uncovering and articulating Oracle’s

competitive advantage and, ultimately, to help our sales force win OMC deals

against Cloud competitors offering similar solutions.

The successful candidate

will be viewed globally as the subject matter expert for Marketing Cloud competitor

offerings and will own the Competitive Intelligence function in this area.

Competitive Intelligence role will work closely with other CI specialists who

focus on related products/solutions.

S/he will also be responsible for staying current on the latest products,

trends, innovations and public announcements of competitors’ Marketing Cloud offerings.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Asthe Marketing Cloud subject matter expert on competition, you must be able toconduct deep competitive research and defensible analysis/proof points andpositioning of Oracle versus competitors’ Marketing Cloud strategy. Competitiveanalysis must be accurate, timely, factual, unbiased and contextual, resultingin value added insight for sales.

  • Provideactionable competitive intelligence, sales tools and training to Field Sales,Oracle Digital Sales and Partner Sales. Specific collaterals will includecompetitor SWOT analysis, sales cheat sheets, presentations, competitivewhitepapers and competitor rebuttals.

  • Ongoingtracking and analysis of current and emerging Marketing Cloud competitors and markettrends.

  • Monitordeal win and loss rates. Analyse underlying cause and effect and bring insightand recommendations to sales management how to improve.

  • Develop,present and maintain regular sales trainings for global and regional salesorganizations.

  • Providedirect deal support to sales teams, upon request (some engagements may involvepresenting to customers and Partners).

  • Functionas Marketing Cloud competitive expert to other Oracle organizations such asproduct management, product marketing, sales and customer success executives. Providethem with deep insight relative to the Marketing Cloud competitive landscapeand deep understanding of key competitors’ business model, go-to-market salesstrategy and product/service differentiation. Advise them on targetedcompetitive advantage campaigns, sales training needs, marketing messages andproduct gaps.

  • Workclosely and share knowledge with peers from across the Competitive Intelligenceteam to ensure we maximize our cloud “suite” and “stack” competitive advantages.

  • Builda global virtual Competitive Intelligence community for Marketing Cloud across geographicregions so there is an informal feedback loop between content creation andsales execution. Network with Business Development, Presales, ProfessionalServices, Customer services and Customer Support to ensure local competitorthreats are understood and addressed.

  • Otherduties as assigned.


  • 10-12 years of productmarketing, competitive intelligence, competitive strategy, messaging or productmanagement experience, focused in the areas of Marketing Cloud and CRM/CX.

  • Prior relevant experience in competitive intelligence/analysis willreceive strongest consideration. Previous Marketing Cloud product sales, industryanalyst, product management, or product marketing background stronglypreferred.

  • Deepknowledge of the Marketing Automation competitive landscape is required.Experience with enterprise Marketing Automation solutions from Salesforce,Adobe, SAP or Microsoft would be a distinct advantage. Relevant Marketing Automationexperience with companies such as Marketo, Hubspot, BlueKai, Eloqua, Compendium,Responsys, Maxymiser, ATG and similar providers are also of interest.

  • Ability toanalyze products at a technical level such that analysis is useful forpre-sales/sales consultants (not just generalists). Hands on experience defining,building, testing, using or implementing Marketing Cloud applications is anadvantage.

  • Ability toprovide market level or strategic level analysis for senior executives isimportant as this role requires executive communication and may occasionally includepresentation to senior management.Financial analysis expertise is a plus.

  • Ability toprioritize multiple simultaneous projects/deliverables to successful completion(i.e., in a quality and timely manner).

  • Stronginterpersonal skills. Excellent writing and analysis skills. Strong verbalcommunication.

  • Analytical and astrategic thinker. Energetic and enthusiastic. A self-starter and team player.

  • Proven ability towork with Sales, Product Management/Marketing, and communicate to executives.

  • Deep insight intoreal-world customer issues, either through previous experience implementing or project managing real-world customer businessapplications (from either the vendor or customer side), as an industry analyst,or by presenting solutions at customer briefings, a strong plus.

  • BA/BS degree inbusiness, technology or research is minimally required. Master’s degree is preferred, butdemonstrated experience can be substituted.

be a self-starter focused primarily on completion of quality and timely

deliverables with an “ownership” mentality to drive analysis and content

creation within his or her area of focus, as well as be a team player to drive

the overall success of the Competitive Intelligence team and OMCI organization.

To be successful, s/he will

have a background in industry analysis, competitive intelligence or selling, managing,

marketing or supporting Marketing Cloud related products (either on the vendor

or customer side). This position

requires excellent writing skills as well as verbal communication skills,

familiarity and understanding of competitive intelligence and marketing process

and deliverables, and a keen understanding of how Enterprise Marketing Cloud

vendors compete with Oracle.
