JOB TITLE: Production Planner Scheduler
FLSA STATUS: Nonexempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, schedules and coordinates flow of work within or between work centers or business units. Reviews master schedule and work orders, establishes priorities, and revises schedule according to projects, work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capacity of workers, parts, materials and equipment. Reschedules identical processes to eliminate duplicate setups. Distributes work orders denoting, quantity, scope of work, and proposed completion date. Confers with production supervisors to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from engineering or account management departments. Compiles reports concerning progress of work and capacity status.
SUPERVISES: There are no direct reports associated with this position.
- Coordinates and schedules production by running and revising daily reports of planning parameters, which includes forecasting and manufacturing data, warehouse logistics, inventory cost levels and turnaround times.
- Opens all work orders for assigned products and coordinates production schedules. Ensures bills of materials and work instructions are properly entered into system.
- Maintains and updates material forecasting data for internal and external customers; loads data, and runs forecasting reports.
- Responds to questions from inside sales, production and internal and external customers, and provides accurate information regarding production schedules, plans and status.
- Revises planned orders by increasing or decreasing the buys for inventory. Notifies buyers to load purchase orders, or processes own purchase orders, depending on product, and coordinates receipt of orders with Receiving Department staff;
- Monitors production, resolves problems, and documents work with production floor supervisor-dispatcher.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

One year of experience in manufacturing production planning and/or procurement;
Familiarity with standard procedures in production, scheduling, and purchasing in a manufacturing environment;
Fundamental computer literacy and skills to use business software, and the Internet for data entry and to produce memos, emails and spreadsheets; Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems;
Effective oral and written communication skills toprovide procedural and factual information, both orally and in writing; and respond to questions fromclients, customers, and managers;
Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;
Mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;
Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities;
Customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests; and escalate difficult matters appropriately;
Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common sense skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a business office environment most of the time. The remainder of work is performed in a manufacturing environment with forklifts and production equipment.
