To ensure the highest possible quality of care, services and resident satisfaction by providing support and service to residents based on their needs and the assistance they require with activities such as the Activities of Daily Living.

Essential Duties and responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, changing, incontinence care, escorts and most of the residents’ activities of daily living. Converses with residents to reinforce positive behaviors and promotes social interaction. Serves meals if necessary, and sits with residents at coaching table if necessary, to monitor their diets and follow up on their eating portions and habits. Accompanies residents on shopping trips and outing if needed and/or requested. Encourages residents to participate in activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts, recreational games, etc. Re-directs disruptive residents to prevent injury to themselves and others. Observes and documents residents’ behaviors, such as speech production, feeding patterns, and toilet training, to facilitate assessment and development of treatment goals. Attends to routine care conference of resident’s needs under management supervision. May include dog walking multiple times per day for residents with a dog. Assist in the training of new Personal Care Aides in care of residents. Follow up on all universal and safety precautions. Be sure that all safety devices on all tools are operative. Store all equipment/supplies in their proper place. Always use the proper tools and equipment for the job. Learn how to lift properly. Get a co-worker to help you move heavy loads or assist with residents. When driving Company-owned vehicles, don’t speed or use a vehicle for any purpose other than performing your job. Realize that the workplace is not a place for horseplay and practical jokes as they often result in serious injury. When any life-threatening situation occurs, the nearest manager or supervisor should immediately call “911” and provide all necessary information to address the emergency Qualifications

Communication Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with residents, and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Interact well with our Carlton Family – residents, family members, all staff members, future residents. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written or oral instructions. Education and Experience Minimum high school education or GED. One month related experience or training Equivalent combination of education and experience. CNA preferable but not required According to Title 22 requirements, employee must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance Certificates, License, Registration Current First Aid Certification (obtained through community) DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance must be completed prior to working in community (obtained through community) Health screening and negative TB test, must be less than six (6) months old.
