The Tooling Excellence Manager (TXM) will lead the Company’s efforts with respect to innovative tooling globally ensuring cutting edge technologies and fresh ideas are identified, analyzed and operationalized for the field services we perform. New methods to
include Field Force Automation mobility platforms will be created and implemented. The TXM will also lead Quality oversight of FieldCore’s tooling policy, procedure and operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proactively identifies tooling design needs of organization globally.
Proactively identifies innovative and high impact tooling designs by pulsing field service teams for ideas, evaluating the ideas for feasibility and working with GE and FieldCore teams to build and test them.
Conduct thorough analysis on field tooling modification activities. Determine, recommend and implement associated actions, new tooling or training requirements.
Develop innovative tooling designs plans and strategies. Works with field leadership teams in both GSI and GE to evaluate, build and test tooling designs.
Collaborate with tool centers, vendors, GE Engineering for development, approval, testing and industrialization of new designs.
Create and drive companywide communication campaigns of new and existing tools
Capture and maintain metrics of newly implemented tool designs to ensure adoption.
Measure and report safety, quality and productivity gains from innovative tools and methods.
Discover and create optimal tooling methodologies for field activities leveraging existing, as well as, new and innovative tooling technologies.
Explore, evaluate and codify best practices while ensuring new tooling methods are formalized via published FieldCore Quality procedures/work instructions and GE technical manuals.
Provide input to and coordinate with the Training Department to incorporate new tools and methods into courses and competency models.
Lead multi-function committees to analyze and correct regional and companywide challenges with respect to tooling.
Support and lead as appropriate tooling related Quality Event investigations and RCA's.
Perform random Quality Site Audits of Tooling Centers, conduct analysis and recommended actions based on results.
Oversee the investigation of Tooling Quality Events and implementation of preventative and corrective actions.
Accountable for tracking, validating and reducing tooling related Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and other Quality KPI’s.
Coordinate with tooling centers to create and maintain Quality Work Instructions, Procedures and Processes.
Communicate with Product Line and Engineering teams to stay ahead of upcoming tooling needs to support Service Bulletin’s and Fleet Issues.
Collaborate with Tooling Centers, Field Employees and other Field Service Excellence staff to streamline our tooling operations through generation and industrialization of new FFA ideas and concepts..
Develop, manage and be held accountable for the innovative tooling budget.
Accountable for the performance and results of innovative tooling projects to include measurement of actual productivity gained in hours and dollars versus theoretical.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Advanced level of knowledge of design and use of tools used in Gas, Steam and Wind Turbine maintenance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to influence changes with global level impact
Ability to work independently with guidance in only complex situations
Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints
Some travel required
English proficiency requiredEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
Ten to thirteen years of experience in field services or quality roles in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree required
Five to seven years in either field service or quality roles
