Join a growing and dynamic team to develop and test our next-generation cloud storage platform. The Oracle Public Cloud team is developing a new web-scale infrastructure as a service (IaaS) offering, focused on cloud storage. Our systems house a huge amount of data and push complex distributed software systems well beyond their traditional limits (e.g. trillions of objects, billions of queries per second, etc). Our team works on some of the hardest problems in software at a massive scale.


The cloud storage SRE team is helping drive operational reliability by bring software practices to host provisioning, deployment automation, monitoring and networking tooling. Candidates want to tackle great engineering challenges and will be responsible for building the foundation services for our massive cloud infrastructure: systems performance, monitoring, networking, storage, deployment automation and more.

You’ll work on code and automation to create new systems for scaling deployment and mission-critical operation of our cloud. The role is a mix of systems engineering, automation engineering and Dev Ops.


We are seeking seasoned engineers with:

  • Proficiency in Java, high traffic/throughput systems, and cloud compute technologies including object storage.

  • Experience working with fault tolerant and highly-available distributed systems

  • Experience working with automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications

  • Knowledge of large scale networks, load balancing and routing

  • Knowledge of modern service discover, distributed database and messaging systems

  • 4 years production experience in one of: Java, Python

  • Experience with agile based iterative development and knowledge of software engineering best practices

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field

Additional Skills Sought:

  • Storage technologies

  • Cloud computing

  • Cluster management: Mesos, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, etc.

  • Network management / Gateway protocols including BGP, etc.

  • Load balancer / Caching: Nginx, F5, etc.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
