The Program

Here is your opportunity to work on the first ever high-speed rail program in the U.S. while growing your career on a groundbreaking project. The California High-Speed Rail program will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.

The Role

The California High Speed Rail Authority has awarded WSP USA the Program Management role within the Rail Delivery Partners (RDP) program delivery team. As a result, we have an immediate opportunity for a Senior IT Scheduler at our Sacramento program office, reporting to the IT Manager for the entire program. The principal duties of the Senior IT Scheduler include:

  • Prepare cost-loaded schedules for all IT-related activities on the program for software development, develop and maintain detailed resource-loaded schedules, perform baselining, and maintain status using Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) and Power BI

  • Collate project-level schedule reporting to produce program-level schedule status reporting, and prepare reports and presentations as needed

  • Provide project status reporting metrics, including Schedule Performance Index, Baseline Execution Index, Criticality Index and Longest Path Length Index reporting

  • Assess IT schedule performance against program milestones

  • Coordinate with IT leads and subconsultants to ensure accurate reporting

  • Provide data required for Earned Value Management

  • Perform impact analyses and schedule updates as required

  • Perform schedule forecasting as required

  • Incorporate schedule Change Orders in coordination with Program Change Management

  • Support project-level trend management

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely-related field

  • At least ten years IT scheduling experience on large projects relevant to transportation infrastructure

  • Microsoft PPM mastery, Power BI skills

  • The ability to work in the United States immediately is required, local candidates preferred
