Aerojet Rocketdyne Senior Analyst - Cost / General Accounting in Sacramento, California
Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Analyst - General Accounting (Cost) to work out of our facility in Sacramento, California where you will be part of a team responsible for providing rapid and high-quality financial information. In this role, you will perform tasks in the areas of project expenditures, and costing, contract asset and liability analysis, account reconciliations, monthly close activities, and other projects as required.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
Under limited general direction:
50% - Perform analysis on project and inventory cost variances, reconcile contract assets and liabilities and cost ledger activity to the general ledger. Perform month-end closing functions, prepares journal entries to Projects and General Ledger accounts and perform account reconciliations and analysis. May assist in the maintenance and setup of Projects. Applies cost principles to prepare, reconcile and analyze projects costs to ensure the accurate delivery of financial reports to senior management.
30% - Performs ad hoc analyses and reporting, ensuring that all financial information is presented clearly, consistently, and on time. Prepares and provides support of audit requests for external, internal and DCAA audits. Assists in the preparation of analysis supporting annual, quarterly and periodic reports submitted to the SEC.
20% - Special projects as requested. Evaluates respective SOX documentation and methods and recommends changes as necessary. Recommends and performs process improvements and corrective actions.
Secondary Job Functions:
Work with ERP technology such as Oracle and the MS Office suite of tools to document and deliver information.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and at least six years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
Independent, self-motivated individual with strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, able to prioritize to meet critical deadlines, and focus on work product quality and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with hands on approach to process improvement and effective problem resolution.
Experience with government contract accounting experience and sub-ledger postings to the general ledger is desirable.
Proficiency in Excel and experience with data mining, as well as Oracle or other ERP systems a strong plus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
