Sutter Health Nuclear Medicine Technologist II (Per Diem, Varied Shift) in Roseville, California

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides imaging, therapeutic, and patient care services at defined levels to patients.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

  • Maintains a quality assurance program according to regulations established by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

  • Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.

  • May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

  • Operates a variety of complex stationary diagnostic equipment.

  • Orders, prepares, administers, and disposes radiopharmaceuticals and/or agents according to established protocols.

  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education/including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration:

  • Graduate of a JRCERT accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.

  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); Or, ARRT Registered Technologist, R.T.(N)in good standing; Or, eligible to take the Nuclear Medicine registration exam.

  • BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.

  • State Licensure (CNMT) is required (or eligible to take the Nuclear Medicine registration exam).

Knowledge:

  • Complete understanding of Nuclear Medicine methodology, equipment and radiopharmaceuticals is necessary.

  • Also, needs knowledge of radiation safety principles, hazardous materials management and infection control guidelines.

  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.

Experience:

  • Must have previous experience as a nuclear medicine technologist in a hospital environment.

Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
