Assists dementia, Alzheimer’s and/or memory impaired residents with chemical dependency, orsimilar issues; working under direction of the Memory Care Manager/Director.
Essential Duties and responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Assist residents with the activities of daily living, including, but not limited to bathing, dressing,changing, incontinence care, providing escorts, and facilitating activity involvement per the Personal Service Plan and Task Sheets. Assist residents in becoming accustomed to daily routine and encourages them to participate in social and recreational activities to promote rehabilitation. Observe residents and re-direct as necessary to prevent wandering from the area or grounds. Observe and, if necessary, encourage resident to maintain adequate food and water intake.Identify amount consumed. If meal is refused, document the reason. Escort residents off grounds to medical or dental appointments, library, church services, motion pictures, or athletic events. Clean rooms, furnishings, walls, and floors when necessary. Observe and follow all universal and safety precautions and infection control practices. Trains new Memory Care Aide’s in care of residents. Prepare and serve meals and snacks for the residents. Assist residents during meals by feeding them, coaching them, and encouraging them to eat. Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of the Memory Care kitchen, dishware, and dining room. Wash and sanitize resident’s clothes, bedding, and linens. Facilitate activities when assigned by programming staff or managers. Run assigned activities and care on time. Will engage the residents in meaningful activities throughout the day. Work as a Personal Care Aid on the assisted living side as needed. Converse with the residents to reinforce positive behaviors and promote social interaction. Encourage residents to participate in activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts, recreational games, vibrant expressions, etc. Redirect disruptive residents to prevent injury to themselves and others; as well as report thosebehaviors to direct supervisor. Complete all tasks on Daily Task Sheets. Fill out task sheets and end of shift reports before the next shift begins. Use time clock and break log book for all scheduled breaks. Abide by company cell phone and uniform policy. Will utilize equipment like gait belts, hoyer lifts, and shower chairs according to policy and procedure. Remain professional and respectful with all communication to residents, other staff members,and visitors. Understand and follow all emergency protocols and respond to emergencies as directed byManager, and per Community training. Report all resident and/or family concerns immediately to your Manager Qualifications
Communication Skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Interact well with our Carlton Family – residents, family members, all staff members, future residents. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written or oral instructions. Education and Experience Minimum of high school education or GED Up to one month related experience or training Equivalent combination of education and experience According to Title 22 requirements, employee must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Certificates, License, Registration Current First Aid Certification (obtained through community) DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance must be completed prior to working in community (obtained through community) Health screening and negative TB test, must be less than six (6) months old.
